Maya Angelou once said, “I think we all have empathy. We may not have enough courage to display it.”
Join us this week as we dig deep into empathy. As always we start with the definition of empathy and why we find it so important. We look at empathy from both the individual perspective and the greater societal perspective. It matters in situations both large and small. Not ones to shy away from a little research we share what we learned about cognitive empathy, emotional empathy, and cognitive empathy.
The difference between sympathy and empathy can be confusing and so we take apart each issue to understand why we need more empathy, not sympathy, in the world.
Lastly, we focus on how to cultivate empathy in our own lives and in our children. No surprise that the concept of books and reading comes up and is discussed.
Join us this week and share your thoughts on empathy with us!
