This week we are still in vacation mode and wanting to hang on to that incredible feeling we get from our downtime for a bit longer. As we like to do we are taking a spin around Pinterest in search of all the pretty and possible things.
One of the things I realized over the last few years is that when I can’t travel or explore new places, I can still bring home some of the feeling that I get from travel and from taking time off. Like a lot of people I go through fits and starts at decluttering my home. Lately it’s been more of a purging than a decluttering. I’ve been letting go of the things that have little to no meaning in order to make space for the things that give my home depth and feeling.
By creating spaces and areas in our homes that hold emotion, create warmth or coolness, add to the sense of relaxation, calm, joy, or peace, we can create a retreat like feeling in our homes. Everyone has a unique sense of style and a unique sense of what makes them happy, what fills them with calm or excitement, interest and joy, connection and peace. You have to decide what it is that you want to create.
There is lots of inspiration on Pinterest so take a look around and see what you can find. Brainstorm some ideas about what might feel good in your space. Think about how you can make your life more expansive by changing your space. We started an inspiration board and will keep adding to it as we go. Check it out and let us know what you think.
How can you get creative in your home to add some retreat-like aspects? Can you add color, different types of furniture, artwork, scents? What would make a difference for you and your family?
